Repubblica: Pioli alone at Milan, Ibra silent, Cardinale tempted by Arab funds

La Repubblica notes Stefano Pioli was ‘left alone’ after Milan‘s draw against Salernitana, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic remained silent and Gerry Cardinale is tempted by potential offers from Arab funds.

The Rossoneri were held to a 2-2 draw by strugglers Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi on Friday night, so they are now eight points below leaders Inter and five above fifth-placed Bologna, but both sides have a game in hand.

Milan have been tormented by injuries this season and haven’t won away in Serie A for three months.

According to La Repubblica, the situation off the pitch is just as worrying. The Italian newspaper notes how Pioli was ‘left alone’ during post-match interviews on Friday night at the Stadio Arechi. ‘One doesn’t need to be malicious to think this is a way to put all the blame on him,’ wrote journalist Enrico Currò.

Even new club director Ibrahimovic remained silent. The former striker was in the stands in Salerno, but according to Repubblica, his role as senior advisor is ‘ambiguous’, especially because he hasn’t officially joined the club’s board and hasn’t been formally unveiled by the club with a press conference.

This may be directly linked to the uncertainty over Cardinale’s future at the helm of the Diavoli as Repubblica claims ‘growing rumours’ suggest the Milan owner is tempted to sell the club to an Arab fund.
