Former director of broadcasting on the state TV channel RT, Anton Krasovsky, known for his controversial pro-Russian statements, is reportedly in serious condition after a suspected poisoning, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.

Krasovsky, 48, posted about his hospitalization and subsequent recovery, but Ukrainian sources claim his recent messages may not have been authored by him.

In October 2022, Krasovsky sparked outrage with genocidal remarks, suggesting Ukrainian children be drowned. He was sentenced to a five-year jail term in absentia by a Ukrainian court in February 2023. Despite apologies, he faced sanctions from the European Union and was relieved of his executive role at Russian state TV.

Krasovsky’s recent posts on Telegram, stating his health condition, raised concerns, but Ukrainian intelligence suggests his situation is worsening, casting doubt on the authenticity of his messages. The intelligence source provided no further details.

Throughout the conflict, Krasovsky made inflammatory statements, endorsing harsh measures against Ukraine and defending the beheading of Ukrainian prisoners of war. His remarks led to his suspension and condemnation by RT’s head, Margarita Simonyan.

This incident adds another layer to the controversial figure’s history, who, in a 2013 article for The Guardian, advocated for challenging prejudicial views and spoke out against violence targeting the LGBTQ+ community in Russia.

Krasovsky’s evolving public stance has been marked by both activism and, more recently, deeply divisive commentary amid the ongoing conflict.
